Insert Socket with Main Frame Connection

Mechanical:
The insert socket is the connection between the main frame and the MKG crane. MKG delivers the insert socket unpainted.
Inside the insert socket, the extendable hydraulic hoses and the control cable unit are located. This unit is modified and supplied by Hunter.
On the main frame, on the outside, there is a mounting plate for the hydraulic control valve of the slewing motors.
These valves and hydraulic hoses are covered by a mechanically lockable protective cover.

Hydraulic:
The hydraulic preparation for the connections is done using hydraulic couplings. For the slewing motors, two load control valves ("Cindy’s") are installed to protect against hose rupture.

Electronic:
The electrical preparation for the connection is done using electrical plug connections.

Operation:
During coupling, the insert socket is placed into the last extension of the MKG crane. This is only allowed and possible when the SkyFlex is “parked” on the specially developed stand.
The crane and head operator extends the retractable hydraulic hoses and control cable unit and ensures that the electrical plug and hydraulic couplings are properly connected.
Then, by sliding the extension over the insert socket, the stop is reached, and the locking pin can be inserted through the extension to secure the insert socket.

Interchangeability of the different Bonsai models and MKG cranes is partially possible.

The SkyFlex is prepared to be mounted on the MKG 3 and 2. For this, the Vöckel control unit has been programmed.

If the Bonsai 2 and 3 are mounted on the MKG 3, additional modifications are required, such as the installation of a temporary wiring harness and a different Vöckel control box.

Main Frame with Slewing Bearing and Hose Passage/Swivels

Mechanical:
The main frame is welded to the insert socket and is made of high-quality steel. After a special mechanical post-processing of the main frame, the special slewing bearing is mounted. It is equipped with two slewing motors with reduction drives and a position sensor.

Hydraulic:
A hydraulic swivel with four ¾” passages is placed in the centerline of the slewing bearing. The hydraulic connections have an SAE connection.
Two load control valves ensure that if hoses are damaged, the position remains secured.

The hydraulic control is provided by a simple control valve that is connected to the fixed part.

Electronic:
In the center, there is a control cable passage with so-called CAN properties, which ensures the transmission of control signals.

Intermediate Frame with Slewing Bearing

Mechanical:
The intermediate frame, made of high-quality steel, is mounted on top of the slewing bearing.
A second slewing bearing, identical to the first, is mounted at the vertical end.
Two rubber end dampers provide the "end stop," and position sensors are used.

Hydraulic:
Four hydraulic swivels with ¾” connections are placed on the inner circumference of the slewing bearing. The position is chosen so that the tilt frame can achieve its 180° tilt angle. Two load control valves ensure that, in case of hose failure, the position remains secured, provided there is no overloading.

Electronic:
Together with the hydraulic hoses, the CAN control cable, which ensures the transmission of control signals, is guided in a loop.
For the end stop (in addition to the rubber end dampers), electronic position sensors ensure that the end damping is gradually reached and that at full stroke, the operator can mechanically overload the structure.

Tilt Frame with Wood Clamp/Saw Unit Connection

Mechanical:
The intermediate frame, made of high-quality steel, is mounted on top of the slewing bearing.
Mechanical:
The intermediate frame, made of high-quality steel, is mounted on top of the slewing bearing. The vertical end is mounted to the second slewing bearing. The box-shaped construction of the tilt frame allows for the installation of the hydraulic valve unit, which is covered by a protective cap with mechanical locking. At the end, the wood clamp and the mounting frame for the saw units are installed as described below.

This ensures that sensitive components are well protected.

Electrical:
The entire unit is controlled by a second Vöckel CAN control unit.

Wood Clamp with Saw Units

Mechanical:
A subframe connects the wood clamp, saw units, and tilt frame. The entire construction is made of high-quality steel and is stable and robust. For maintenance and inspection, the saw units can be folded outwards, allowing easy access to important components.
The wood clamp and saw unit are from the brand Hultdins, ensuring reliable sawing functionality.

Hydraulic:
On the operating cylinder of the wood clamp, there is a hose rupture protection combined with an accumulator, ensuring the material remains clamped if the MKG crane motor shuts down.

Sawing is only possible if the hydraulic cylinder of the wood clamp is pressurized and remains so.

The saw chain tension, the moment of saw blade extension, and lubrication happen automatically and can, like the moment and force of the saw blade extension, be adjusted in the Vöckel control program.

Both saw units can cut up to approx. 80 cm (optionally up to 90 cm).

For user convenience, the units are powder-coated in fluorescent green and orange.
